At East Lothian Chiropractic we offer a wide range of massage therapies.

Aromatherapy involves the absorption of essential oils, into the body, through various means including massage and inhalation. Each oil or blend has different natural chemical properties that may assist in relieving a wide variety of symptoms.

High quality essential oils are blended specifically for each individual. The blend is then applied through soothing massage, relaxing both the body and mind. This treatment helps with many conditions as blends can be created especially for you, whilst also receiving all the benefits of massage.

Indian Head Massage

A deeply calming and relaxing treatment leaving you feeling re-energised and revitalised. Especially good for relieving stress, tension, anxiety, fatigue, insomnia, headaches and sinusitis. It also promotes a great sense of calmness, peace and tranquillity. This massage works on the upper back, neck, shoulders, head, scalp and face.

Relaxation/Therapeutic Massage

This therapy is ideal if you have stiffness and soreness in your muscles which is causing you discomfort or if you would simply like to take some time out to rebalance your body.

Classical techniques are used during your massage to restore proper function and movement to your muscles. The depth of the massage will be tailored to your individual requirements and preference.

LaStone Therapy - The original hot stone massage

In a LaStone massage both hot stones (smooth volcanic black basalt) and cooled stones (polished white marble) are applied to to specific areas of the body, depending upon the needs of the client, using a variety of massage techniques.

The physiological benefits of alternating hot and cold to the body have long been scientifically and medically proven. The hot/cold combination stimulates blood flow (thermotherapy), the cold reduces inflammation and swelling (cryotherapy) and has an analgesic (pain-relieving effect). This form of bodywork can help to alleviate chronic and acute muscular problems.

The overall treatment has the beneficial effects of increasing circulation and lymph drainage, as well as also producing a feeling of deep relaxation.

Remedial/Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue, remedial massage relieves muscle tension in tight knotted tissues using a number of different techniques such as effleurage, petrissage, myofascial release and trigger point work.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage is a treatment that anyone can benefit from, including people who take part in regular physical activity and/or sports or people in demanding jobs where postural stress is present and similar characteristics to sports injuries may occur.

The prime purpose of sports massage therapy is to help alleviate the stress and tension which builds up in the body's soft tissues. It covers the management and rehabilitation of these soft tissues or muscle ligaments and tendons of the body. Where minor injuries and lesions occur, due to overexertion and/or overuse, massage can break them down quickly and effectively.

Daytime, evening & weekend appointments are available.
